Grace is 26 when the story starts. She starts taking care of Miriam when Miriam is 6 years old, after Miriam s drunkard father dies. She loves Miriam like her own daughter, but she can be rather naive and helpless much of the time. Miriam takes care of Grace because she feels like Grace can t doing anything without her protection.
