Minami Shinbo has been here, there, and everywhere in postwar Japanese subculture. He was editor at Garo between 1972 and 1979, and is responsible for the magazine's turn in the mod-70s to a baudevillian and heta-uma aesthetic. He has colalborated with famous artist and writer Akasegawa Genpei on a number of projects. He is a prolific essayist and has been involved in music, film, and television production and performance. He is also an illustrator and manga author.
