Born in Gunma Prefecture in 1991. At age 20, while studying at Waseda University in Tokyo, she won the Matsumoto-Seicho Prize, one of the most prestigious prizes in literature for novels in Japan, as the youngest recipient in its history for her first novel "Karasu ni Hitoe wa Niawanai".
