Yamagishi is a Japanese mangaka and part of the Year 24 Group. She made her professional debut in 1969 with "Left and Right", a short story published in Ribon Comic , a spin-off magazine of Ribon . As a child, Yamagishi studied ballet, which plays a part in many of her works. In 1983, she won the Kodansha Manga Award in the shoujo manga category for Hi Izuru Tokoro no Tenshi .
