Synopsis

18th century France. The then king, Louis XV, was known for being handsome and had many mistresses. Among them, if one was chosen as the official mistress, they could gain power second only to the queen. Jeanne-Antoinette Poisson, a commoner, dreamed of becoming Louis' mistress, and approached him when he came to the forest to hunt. Jeanne caught the king's eye, but she ended up angering the mistress, the duchess of Chateauroux.
