What is Webtoon?

A webtoon is a digital comic built for the phone screen: one long vertical strip you scroll through, almost always in colour, released chapter by chapter. The format started in Korea and is now used worldwide.

"Webtoon" describes the format, not the country — there are Korean, Chinese, Japanese, and original-English webtoons. On official platforms like WEBTOON and Tapas, most series are free to read with optional paid early access.
